Frances
Lake Wilderness Lodge is situated in the southeast corner of the Yukon
Territory on the peaceful shores of Frances Lake, amongst a
breathtaking wilderness in the northern foothills of the Canadian
Rocky’s. With European style hospitality the lodge offers a true
respite from traffic, computers, headlines, and other stresses of
every-day’s life. Access by boat or float plane only. Take a break and
stay a few days to discover the unexpected. The wide variety of day
adventures include paddling, boating, fishing, interpretive nature
walks, historic explorations, and in fall you may catch the first
northern lights of the season.
8-day self-drive itinerary:
Day 1: From
Edmonton, Calgary or Vancouver you take Air North – Yukon’s friendly
Airline – to Whitehorse. Upon arrival, you will pick up your rental
car. We have you booked in a nice hotel in the city.
Day 2: After
an early breakfast you drive east out of Whitehorse along the famous
Alaska Highway towards Watson Lake (450km). Here you may visit the
famous sign post forest before you continue your journey along the
Campbell Highway northwards. It’s a well maintained gravel road which
leads you after 170km to Frances Lake. You will leave your car at the
boat ramp where we will pick you up by boat and bring you to our
Wilderness Lodge and your private lake shore log cabin.
Day 3 to 6: The days at Frances Lake offer you a wide variety of adventures at no extra cost!
You may enjoy them at your own leisure or join some of our offered activities:
- Guided
excursions by boat to the abandoned trading post of the famous Hudson’s
Bay Company, old trapper cabins and scenic bays, ponds and rivers.
- Canoeing, kayaking, fishing, wildlife watching.
- Interpretive nature walks.
- Short hiking trails have been established near the lodge and marked for your convenience.
- An open air rest area with a fire place invites you to take in the magnificent view while you relax.
- Our full-time cook prepares excellent meals with locally grown salads and fresh baking goods.
- Showers and lake front wood heated sauna.
- And
remember that this unique wilderness lodge caters to only a few guests
at a time, offering an experience you will never forget!
Day 7: The
boat will bring you back to your car. For your drive back you can
either choose the route you already know or continue the Campbell
highway to the northwest and return via Carmacks to Whitehorse. You
will overnight in your Whitehorse hotel.
Day 8: Enjoy again the friendly service on Air North’s flight home.
Booking information:
Driver must be at least 21 years of age and carry a valid driver’s licence.
This package is offered from mid June to mid September.
It is available daily from Vancouver or Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun from Edmonton and Calgary.
It is possible to delay your return flight and continue discovering the Yukon by yourself.

Terms of Participation
Rate includes:
- Return flights with Air North from Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver to Whitehorse
- Rental car from Whitehorse, full size, including 250 km per day
- Two nights ***Hotel in Whitehorse
- Five nights at Frances Lake Wilderness Lodge with accommodation in private cozy lake shore log cabin
- Transportation by boat from Frances Lake boat ramp to the lodge and return
- All meals during stay at the lodge
- Comfortable living room with library
- Use of wood heated sauna - cool off in the lake, shower in separate log building
- Unlimited use of canoes and kayaks with complete equipment and instruction
- Daily excursions with licensed wilderness guide:
boating, hiking, photography, sightseeing, angling, canoeing and kayaking
Not included:
- Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks (the lodge is licensed and has a selection in stock)
- Angling licence (can be purchased at lodge)
- Meals in Whitehorse and en route
- Optional collision, windshield and tire coverage for your rental car
- Fee for additional driver (if applicable)
- Personal
insurance (trip cancellation, medical insurance): We strongly recommend
to arrange for sufficient coverage before the start of your trip.
5-day fly-in option:
For travelers with limited time there is also a 5-day fly-in option available (3 nights at the lodge). Instead of driving your rental car, transport between Whitehorse and Frances Lake will be by floatplane (1.45 h scenic flight). This gives you the most possible time at our lodge.
