February 2008: The trees are cut
There are
plenty of trees in the Yukon, but not all of them are
suitable for building a log house. They have to be tall-grown spruce
trees of straight growth, not too thick and not too slim, and with a
log diameter as constant as possible. Down the lake, on the sunny side
we found a suitable timber site. The trees are carefully selected, cut
and measured, then limbed and stored.
